Application Procedures

The application procedure is conducted in three stages. First, applicants must complete the application available at www.us.emb-japan.go.jp/JET/index.html Applications submitted by November 24, 2009 will be screened by the Embassy of Japan. Candidates who pass the initial screening will be interviewed at the relevant Embassy or Consulate in their native country. The Japanese Consulate in Houston interviews JET candidates residing in Texas and Oklahoma. Applicants who pass the interview stage will receive notification by April that they are scheduled for placement. Finally, in May-July, the applicants are notified of the contracting organizations in which they will be placed. Participants arrive in Japan at the end of July or beginning of August.
